The Polar Barcode of Life Campaign is working in concordance with the International Barcode of Life Project, as a part of Working Group 1.10 - Polar Life. Led by researchers in Canada, Norway, and New Zealand and with 33 member organizations, PolarBOL aims to assemble DNA barcodes for 20K polar species by 2015, thereby providing comprehensive coverage of dominant taxa. The project will focus on assessing regional species richness, biogeographic patterns, species distributions, and climate change effects.
